First of all… how amazing is this drawing? My friend Harold Arandia sketched this up after seeing our case over the weekend. He said the case inspired him, well Harold YOU INSPIRE ME!
OK… on to the updates and the answers to frequently asked questions.
*NOTE the changes listed below apply to all the iPad case styles.
- ALL THE PORTS ARE NOW ACCESSIBLE!
- The strap is removable.
- You can listen to music while the iPad is in it’s case.
- The home button is now easily accessible.
- There is a 3rd stand option. If all the leather straps are folded back, the iPad sits up at a 45 degree angle. This also makes it easy to hold with out the straps hanging to the sides.
- I also changed the design of the back. It now has leather pieces running the full length of the case to match the front.
- All 4 closures are now on the front to make it easy to open and close.
- I should also add… The army green cotton elastic that make it possible for the case to expose all the ports is made from suspenders that date back to 1965. (A little fact to keep your friends drooling : )
ENJOY!

How easy is it to get in and out?
Also, is it possible to have the areas without ports covered in fabric somehow?
Thanks!
Its really easy to pull in and out, yet doesnt slip around at all once its in. You can even flip it upside down and shake it and it doesnt budge : )
As for the exposed sides where the ports are not. Adding fabric would not allow for the webbing to stretch, it was kind of a toss up because I would have like to cover the sides completely yet once your slide it in and use it, it really doesnt bother me at all. I may be able to source thicker webbing in the future but for now I also think its really rad that the stretch webbing comes from old military suspenders.
Hope that helps : )
Steve
That’s looking really good.
Will the black version be updated as well?
God bless you for these changes! Mine arrives today! Thank you, WWII Santa!
Got the repurposed case today and I have to say the attention to detail is top notch. My case came with some unexpected but totally unique lettering on the front. Totally one of a kind folks. IPad is extremely tight in here and I’m certain it could survive a fall in this case due to the strong fabric buffer. The detail is so exquisite it even uses the same canvas material on the under side of the padded strap where it hits the shoulder. Truth is in the details. Stitching is superb. Contrast is lovely. Design has total ergonomics in mind. Thoughtfully made and produced with unsurpassed quality. Thanks to all the caring hands that made this available for us apple fans. Keep up the good work and thanks for listening to your customers. That is truly rare these days.
when i saw the original bag, i was at awe, and knew i would have to have one when i got my ipad. a week went by, and as i was looking at pictures of the bag, trying to make up my mind between the all leather case, or the all black case… i pictured myself having one, flipping back the top, and getting ready to operate the ipad on the go. that was the moment i realized that it was not as accessible, but the thought of the buttons hadnt crossed my mind up until that point. so…. i started looking around the net for other bags, but i knew i had to goole innovative ipad bags to get anything remotely close to this one.
i came across a post that was talking about the temple bag, then saw a response from a Steve, stating the the temple bag had been updated so that the side buttons and home screen buttons were accessible. i clicked on his name and was brought back to the templebags website.
fast forward to now: this final bag met all of my wonders and imagination of accessibility. it was a 100% deal sealer when i saw that the home button access piece was made towards the top of the bag, which was my final worry… so its everything i could ask for. its perfect.
so now im back at the fork in the road or deciding between the all leather bag, or the black bag. i am more interested in the black one, but im curious… are the straps and laces made out of leather like the leather and re-purpose bags?
The shoulder strap and the tabs that wrap around are all made with leather on every case. Where there is canvas on the re-purposed cases, there is canvas on the black case. Hope that helps : )
Wow, that looks gorgeous. I love the color and texture! Are you also selling this Army Green version? I only see black on black, all brown, and Brown leather + Military Green versions in store as of now, please add this version as an purchasing option as well.
Thanks!
The waxed canvas bag is now the re-purposed army duffle bag canvas. So the one your love, maybe be the one you get Dave.
I love that you have CS Lewis books in the background. They are the first books I downloaded on my new iPad.
The bags look amazing I’m slightly concerned the speaker is covered and it also looks like the iPad will need to be removed to charge while not deal breakers necessarily for such beautiful craftsmanship but perhaps a minor inconvenience?
If I purchase a waxed canvas bag for the iPad, will the color look like that of the pictures above. That greyish color looks hot.
has the all leather bag been updated as well?
This is a gorgeous product!
I see that it allows positioning in portrait mode. I have a question about propping it up in landscape position. It looks pretty clear that it will stand upright in landscape if the top is set out a bit in a v position.
Is it perfectly upright in this position, or can it be leaned back a bit? A bit of lean-back would be ideal for landscape viewing, and cannot tell from the pictures.
Steve : it doesnt pivot at all in landscape mode. It works
Great looking bag, Ive been looking for a bag for quite some time, but you sold me on it as soon as I saw the re-purposed version! Serves all my needs, great work!
Just wish I could get it earlier :(
Can you make a short handle for the bag, I do not need a long strap I would rather carry it like a briefcase.
Are there any photos of the update case features on the leather versions?
The photos on the shopping cart pages still show the covered home button and such.
Just received my all-leather iPad case today. This thing is truly a piece of art, right down to the packaging even. I highly recommend this case to anyone and everyone!!!!
Except – my wife is jealous because she has never had a bag that cost $200. Lol :)
As a followup, here is a video depicting the case in action:

Thanks Steve!!!!
Do these bags ship immediately? Specifically the canvas one…
I have been playing with the all-leather iPad case for about two weeks now and I must say it is phenomenal. The material feels great and the design is well thought out. It is funny, people used to just approach me and ask, “hey is that an iPad?” , now it is usually followed by: “Wow, where did you get that case ?” :) Now, if only Steve could make a Macbook Pro, or Macbook Air case in this style ;)
